Why I'm doing this

I want to be a teacher when I grow up. My biggest inspiration is my grade 7 teacher Mr. O'Leary — he's super calm with students and gives great examples in everything he teaches. Before him, Mrs. Becker taught me math for two years in grades 4 and 5, and she's the reason math finally clicked for me. She was kind and really explanatory, and she took her time. That's how I want to teach.

I get what it's like to struggle

I was a really shy kid until about grade 6. I had trouble focusing in school until grade 3 or 4. I went through COVID-school in grades 2 and 3 — doing all my work over a computer at 8 years old — and honestly, it was hard. That experience is actually part of why I care so much about making online tutoring feel personal, not like a kid staring at a screen alone. I want my sessions to feel like having a buddy help you, not like another Google Meet you have to sit through.

What I'm focused on, and what I'm honest about

I stick to grades 1–5 because that's where I think I can really help. I'm in grade 7 myself and could teach higher, but I'd rather do a great job with the younger grades than an okay job stretching higher. I'll also be honest about my own weak spot — multiplying and dividing fractions has always been tricky for me — so if your kid needs a lot of help in that area, I'll tell you up front. I'd rather be honest than pretend.

Outside of school

I play baseball every spring and summer (I'm an outfielder — right field is my home). I hang out at the skatepark with my friends, ride my bike and longboard around town, and go to youth group at my friend's church a couple times a month. I'm the kind of kid who'd rather be outside building forts and trails with my buddies than inside on a screen.

A note for parents

My dad helps me run the business side — booking, scheduling, and payments all go through him. He's always nearby during sessions, and we expect a parent to be nearby on your side too. I'm taking this seriously because I want this to be a real job I can grow into over the years, not just something I do for a summer.
